TALLINN UNIVERSITY
OF TECHNOLOGY AND COLLEGES
Tallinn University of Technology, founded in 1918 is the oldest and biggest
university in Tallinn and the second largest in enrolment in Estonia. University
provides interdisciplinary higher education, innovation and technological
development.
The campus of Tallinn University of Technology (TUT) is located approximately
10 kilometres from the centre of Tallinn. In addition to the campus, TUT has 2
departments that are located outside the campus area - the Faculty of Economics
and Business Administration and the Faculty of Humanities.
TUT has about 10 000 students and 1600 employees. Academic part of the university
is organised into 8 faculties, 30 departments and 117 chairs, 3 centres of
strategic competence and 7 affiliated institutions.
THE FACULTIES OF TUT:
Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Power Engineering, Faculty of Information
Technology, Faculty of Chemical and Materials Technology, Faculty of Economics
and Business Administration, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Mechanical
Engineering.
TUT offers a wide variety of educational programs (presently 128), which include
both traditional and new fields of modern technology and economics. Courses
meet high academic standards and give a comprehensive view of each science.
BUSINESS COLLEGE AT TUT
Business College has been entitled to grant the diploma of Tallinn University of
Technology with the right to continue graduate studies at the university level.
According to a survey made, graduate performance in different sectors, such as
banking, commerce and small business, has been very successful.
KURESSAARE COLLEGE AT TUT
Colleges are the local learning, research and development centres representing
TUT's outreach policy. Geographically, Kuressaare College, founded on the island
of Saaremaa in 1999, is the remotest of the three colleges. The mission of the
College is to train specialists in tourism and restaurant management. Kuressaare
College is also a research institution where several research and development projects
are pursued.
VIRUMAA COLLEGE AT TUT
The prime concern of the College is to create good learning opportunities for
young people and support entrepreneurship in Ida-Virumaa. College provides for
two vocational higher education programs: production engineering and industrial
entrepreneurship, and information technology. Additionally, computer and language
training courses are offered.
To ensure advancement and a good level, the College has created contacts and
cooperation with other Estonian and foreign companies and universities and participates
in international programs. |
