Engineering provides a wide range of opportunities for
undergraduate study within the areas of Aeronautical,
Aerospace, Aviation, Pilot Studies, Transport, Architecture,
Civil and Mechanical – all these areas have good
employment prospects. The department has very close ties
with industry and all the undergraduate programmes have
professional accreditation with one of the following
professional bodies:
- Royal Aeronautical Society
- Institution of Civil Engineers
- Institute of Mechanical Engineers
- The Institute of Structural Engineers
- The Institute of Highways and Transportation
All engineering programmes have routes towards Chartered Engineering qualifications which are in
great demand in industry and lead to a wide range of high level career options. Our programmes are
designed to give students not only knowledge and creativity, but are reliant on substantial study in
laboratories to equip graduates with a range of vocational and practical skills. Facilities include:
Aerodynamics, Aircraft Structures & Mechanical workshops
Civil & Structural laboratories - Flight simulators - Wind tunnels
Flying lessons and Flight Test studies at a local airport
